Lime is a rock powder used to raise the pH of soils high in acidity. We use a granular limestone application that contains calcium and magnesium. An application of lime "sweetens" a soil, making the soil more alkaline. The capacity of lime to "sweeten" also makes it useful for battling outdoor pet odors. The reason one would need lime for your lawn would be for the purpose of restoring the beauty and balance. By adding regular "maintenance" applications, you will create pore spacing to promote better percolation and soil drainage. In our area Lime applications are recommended in the spring and in the fall. All our Standard programs include a spring lime application, fall treatment is optional but highly suggested on all lawns. Using lime will take a lawn that was unhealthy looking and replace it with a lush and green lawn that you are eager to show off to friends and family.
